Itinerary:

Day
1- Depart Newark Airport-
Enjoy your overnight flight to Italy. Dinner and Breakfast
served onboard.
Day 2- Montecatini-
Arrive in Italy and transfer to Montecatini. Enjoy
the rolling hills and beautiful countryside as you drive through
the Tuscan Hills. After checking into your First Class Hotel,
the balance of the day is free to enjoy this lovely world-renowned
spa town famous for its spring waters, thermal baths, mudpacks
and massages. Tonight join your fellow travelers for a welcome
dinner.(D)
Day
3- Lucca / Pisa- After
breakfast we depart for historic Lucca, surrounded by Renaissance
walls, your guide will escort you through this lovely town.
On Piazza San Martino, see the magnificent Duomo evoking Pisan-Romanesque
style. Enjoy lunch (on your own) at one of the local wine
taverns or trattorias. After lunch we depart for Pisa, one
of the most powerful cities of the Middle Ages. Pisa, of course,
is home of the 12 Century Leaning Tower in the Square of Miracles,
as well as the Duomo (Cathedral) and its historic Baptistery.
Return to the Montecantini. (B,D)
Day 4- Assisi: After breakfast depart for Assisi,
the birthplace of St. Francis, a lovely little towm situated
on the slopes Of
Mount Subasio. Your tour will include a visit to the Basilica
of St.Clare which was erected in 1265 and contains the incorrupt
body of the saint"; the Piazza del Comune with its ancient
Roman temple; the Basilica of St. Francis with Giotto’s frescoes
and Cimabue's painting of the Crucifixion and the tomb of St.
Francis. After free time for
lunch on your own and some shopping you will leave Assisi and
drive down the hill to make a stop at Basilica of St Mary of
the Angels where St Francis spent most of his life. Here you
will see the Porziuncola, the rose bush, and the Chapel of the
Transit where Francis passed the last days of his life, and
being placed naked on the bare earth, died here on the evening
of 3rd October 1226, after having composed the final verses
of his Canticle of the Creatures. (B,D)
Day 5- Florence- After Breakfast we depart
for Florence to visit the superb sites of Italy’s preeminent
Renaissance city. Dignified, well managed, precise, it is a
city offering extraordinary art and culture. Visit the Duomo,
Baptistery, and, of course, a special visit to the Academy of
Fine Arts to see Michelangelo’s David and Santa Croce
Church. (B,D)
Day 6- Siena / San Gimignano- After Breakfast,
drive through the lovely Tuscan countryside to the Gothic and
Romanesque town of Siena, considered one of the world’s
best-preserved medieval cities and a showcase of Italian Gothic.
We will take you on a guided tour of the city’s highlights.
There is much to see here, from the fine palaces that line the
narrow cobbled streets and the superb Duomo (Cathedral), to
the celebrated Piazza del Campo where the famed Palio horserace
is run yearly. Today we have planned a special Tuscan
lunch and wine tasting in the Chianti
Hills. Later enjoy the drive through this lovely rural setting
to San Gimignano, a charming hill-town that is called the “New
York of Tuscany” in honor of its remaining towers that
present, from a distance one of the most spectacular views in
Italy, and offers an unexpected “skyscraper” skyline.

Day 7- Cortona / Arezzo- After breakfast depart for
Cortona, made famous because of Frances Mayes book "Under
the Tuscan Sun" Cortona’s architecture is medieval with
steep narrow streets situated on a hillside, embracing a view
of the whole of the Valdichiana. Next we visit Arezzo, One of
the most important cities of the Etruscan federation, in Roman
times. Arezzo is famous for the works of the artist Piero della
Francesca and it is the bith place of Petrarca which is one
of the most classic Italian poets. (B,D)

Day
8 Montecatini- After Breakfast the day is at leisure
to explore the quaint town of Montecatini with its many shops
and cafes. Perhaps you might want to take advantage of the
many treatments available in the world-famous health spas.
Why not visit Montecatini Alto the original settlement that
lies a few hundred meters above the “new” town.
The views are splendid and at the Piazza Giusto you can find
a sidewalk café and many specialty shops. (B,D)
Day
9 Montecatini- Ciao to Italy! After
Breakfast you depart for the airport for your flight home with
lovely memories of Italy. (B)
