See the famous sights of Hawaii during this incredible
island getaway. Your vacation begins with three nights in Honolulu,
where sightseeing includes Pearl Harbor, Chinatown, and the royal
'Iolani Palace. Then travel to Kona for a tour of the Kona Coffee
Living History Farm, a visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park,
and a lavish luau. Next, fly to Maui and enjoy spectacular natural
sights such as the lush 'Iao Valley and Haleakala National Park.
At each destination you have plenty of time to relax on the beach
or explore on your own.
Itinerary:
Day 1 Flight to Honolulu
Upon
arrival you are greeted in the traditional Polynesian way—with
a warm aloha and a lei of fresh flowers. Transfer to your hotel
in Waikiki. The remainder of your day is at leisure.
Day
2 Honolulu
A breakfast get-together with your Tour Director to review activities
scheduled throughout your stay. The balance of the day is free
to relax, swim, enjoy water sports, or laze on the beach. Take
the optional excursion to the Polynesian Cultural Center for authentic
island arts, crafts, history, music, a dinner buffet, and a spectacular
Polynesian show with more than 100 performers. This evening, enjoy
an optional sunset cruise with dinner, Hawaiian cocktails, and
splendid views of the glittering Waikiki coastline and Diamond
Head. (B)
Day
3 Honolulu
Begin with a tour of PEARL HARBOR’S famous battleship row. Listen
to a narration of the dramatic air attack of December 7, 1941,
and visit the USS Arizona and the impressive MEMORIAL dedicated
to the 1,102 men still entombed. You will also have an opportunity
to visit the MUSEUM, an excellent way to learn about Pearl Harbor
Day, the Japanese strategy and military craft, and the individuals
involved in the attack. Then it’s on to Punchbowl National Cemetery
and Honolulu Lookout. Other sights include Chinatown, the Hawaii
State Capitol, royal `Iolani Palace, and the statue of Kamehameha
the Great. Tonight, a wonderful evening of dining and entertainment
awaits! See the most popular show in Waikiki, the Society of Seven,
with an evening of classic impersonations, comedy acts, Broadway
show tunes, and today’s popular hits! (B,D)
Day
4 Honolulu–Kona
Transfer to the airport for your morning flight to the “Big Island.”
Upon arrival, visit the KONA COFFEE LIVING HISTORY FARM. You will
have an opportunity to learn and experience the history of Kona’s
coffee industry and the remarkable story of the pioneers who established
these farms. Then transfer to your oceanfront resort on the sunny
west coast of Hawaii’s largest island, where the total land mass
is more than twice the combined area of all the other islands.
This evening, enjoy a lavish LUAU feast, then sit back and watch
the captivating Polynesian revue of dancers and musicians. (B,D)
Day
5 Kona
Today, circle the island as you visit HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL
PARK. See Kilauea Crater, rising 4,090 feet above a volcanic wonderland
of steaming fire pits, lava tubes, and fern forests. Lunch at
the Volcano Golf and Country Club, then head back along the scenic
Hamakua Coast through Parker Ranch to arrive back at the hotel.
(B,L)
Day
6 Kona
Today, you decide the pace. You can opt to relax at your splendid
seaside resort, do some independent sightseeing, or enjoy one
of our optional excursions. For a once-in-a-lifetime experience,
take an optional helicopter flight over Hawaii Volcanoes National
Park and see the magnificent active lava flow. (B,D)
Day
7 Kona–Maui
Transfer to the airport for the short and scenic flight to Kahului
on the “Valley Island” of Maui. Drive to the lush `IAO VALLEY
to see the `Iao Needle, a spectacular volcanic spire, then to
Lahaina, once a whaling center and the capital of the Hawaiian
monarchy. Continue to Maui’s resort area of Ka`anapali, your home
for the next two nights. (B)
Day 8 Maui
The day is free for you to enjoy at leisure. Join the optional
excursion to Haleakala National Park, site of the huge volcanic
Haleakala Crater, known to islanders as the “House of the Sun.”
The park is in a setting of stunning natural beauty, ranging from
cinder cones to dense rainforest. In 1980 this fragile native
ecosystem was designated an International Biosphere Reserve. You
have plenty of time in the afternoon to relax and enjoy your resort’s
facilities. From mid-December to mid-April a humpback whale-watching
cruise is available. This evening, your Tour Director hosts a
special GLOBUS FAREWELL CELEBRATION DINNER. Wonderful conversation
and cuisine are the perfect finale to your vacation. (B,D)
Day
9 Maui–Homebound Flight
Transfer to Kahului Airport to connect with your homebound flight.
