Over the
centuries the Amalfi Coast of Italy has been one of the most
sought after and spectacular vacation retreats in all of Italy.
The raw beauty of this coastline has inspired poets and artists
from every age. The contrast between the bright lush colors
of the citrus groves and the deep blue tranquility of the Mediterranean
Sea is the perfect combination to bring you back again and again.
Itinerary:
Day 1 – Depart the USA for your overnight flight
to Naples. Meals & refreshments are served onboard.
Day
2 – Salerno – Upon arrival in Naples you are met and
assisted with your transfer to your hotel in Salerno, your home
for the next seven nights. Salerno is one of the most beautiful
cities in Italy and, together with its vast province, offers a
large number of attractions. The city has kept intact over the
years its rich historical centre and its characteristic architecture.
Salerno is a real Italian City, where you can experience the real
Southern Italian life. With a thriving main street, the city gives
people "the small town feeling". Restaurants, "pizzerie",
pubs, and shops, are reachable within a short, enjoyable walk.
Tonight join your traveling companions for a welcome dinner at
the hotel. (Dinner Included)
Day
3 – Salerno/Amalfi Coast –Today is a day you will remember
for a lifetime. Your coach will take you to a wonderland of small
villages, via the spectacular “Amalfi Drive”, the most famous
road in Italy, affording spectacular views of the coastline and
sea. This is a breathtaking excursion to the jewels of the Amalfi
Coast, Positano and Amalfi. The tour bus will make a brief stop
for photos of Positano, which has always been known as one of
the most picturesque resorts in the Mediterranean area. Continue
on to Sorrento, where you can stroll through the cobbled streets
or sip a cappuccino and people watch. Enjoy a light lunch, and
then return back to you hotel. (Breakfast and Lunch Included)
Day
4 – Salerno/Paestum - After breakfast at your hotel depart
for Paestum. Paestum was founded 600 B.C. - some years after Agropoli
- by Greeks from Sybaris, which was at that time an important
Greek city in Calabria. The three Doric temples of Paestum are
said to be the best preserved Greek temples in the world and the
walls around Paestum are the most complete of that period. No
visit to the Campania region of Italy would be complete without
a stop at a local Mozzarella cheese factory. Here you will see
the process of making the most famous mozzarella cheese in the
world, complete with tasting! (Breakfast and Dinner at the hotel

Day
5 – Salerno/Ravello – This morning depart for Ravello.
The town was once part of the Republic of Amalfi; now it is a
peaceful historic village popular with tourists and honeymooners.
Ravello, perched high on the cliffs above, is famous for its views
and its famous garden, Villa Rufolo. You will visit Villa Rufolo
and its famous garden and also the medieval cathedral. Return
to Salerno filled with warm memories and dreams of a beautiful
region. (Breakfast and Dinner at the hotel Included)
Day
6 – Salerno/Capri – This morning you will board a high
speed hydrofoil to the fabled isle of Capri. You will take a scenic
funicular ride to the center of town and enjoy a visit to the
“Gardens of Augustus.” After a light lunch, there is still some
time for shopping before catching a return jetfoil to Sorrento.

Day
7 – Salerno/Pompeii/Naples – This morning depart for
Pompeii, the Roman town that lay buried beneath volcanic lava
for 200 years. During a guided tour you’ll rediscover an advanced
civilization that has been uncovered by excavations. Discover
temples, houses and villas destroyed by the violent eruption of
Mount Vesuvius in 79AD. After enjoying a light lunch you will
continue on to Naples for an orientation tour before returning
to Salerno. (Breakfast and Lunch Included)
Day 8 – Salerno/Caserta -Today is a day of exploring
the cultural and agricultural wonders of this region. Visit the
Royal Palace of Caserta, a former royal residence in Caserta,
constructed for the Bourbon Kings of Naples. It was the largest
palace and probably the largest building erected in Europe in
the eighteenth century. In 1996, the Palace of Caserta was listed
among the World Heritage Sites on the grounds that it was "the
swan song of the spectacular art of the Baroque”. Then you’re
off to visit the “Gio Sole” farm estate for a glimpse of how agriculture
plays an important role in Campania complete with a tasting of
local delicacies. (Breakfast and Lunch Included)
Day
9 – Say “Ciao to Italy” and transfer to Naples airport
for your return flight home filled with wonderful memories to
last a lifetime. (Breakfast Included)
